A nautilus I made for the BCBS contest, the category was "useless pieces", I used the Vezon masks. For some reason I only got 10th place, losing to some duplo. And the results: [link]
Haha, I sometimes do that too. Lately, my best work comes from contests, but lately, nearly all my work comes from contests so I doubt it means anything XD
But yeah, this has been an idea I've entertained ever since I saw this [link] post, and the contest was the perfect excuse to try and succeed or fail without much repercussion!
Of the six contests I've ever entered, three of them involved MOCs that I'd planned on building anyway, so those don't really count... nevertheless, contests did bring about the existence of Cancer, Yanmega and Absol, so I guess I should be grateful! As for your MOCpages one, though, I really think you deserved a higher spot. Given that the category was Useless Pieces, I really couldn't find many useless ones in many of the entries, while in yours the Vezon masks are very obvious.
Yeah, the entire duration of the contest, I've been the underdoggiest of underdogs, and I think almost every month I've gotten several places less than I should have.
But I can hardly complain, since even though I haven't even won once, I'm in 3rd and will be getting money!
I said hardly; in July, I had to post my entry rushed before summer sleepaway camp. (which totally screwed up brickfair, but that's a different story) I posted the moc, and put it in the group, but I forgot to put it in the entry thread, so I was disqualified without a word! If I hadn't been disqualified, I might have gotten the points needed to be in 2nd, and get $25 more... but after this month, that just might happen anyways. The question is, whether I can hold my own against Chronos... and we all know the answer is NO unless he just is completely incapable of building :c
But eh, I'm happy, this is the best I've done in a contest, and... $$$!
Clever usage of the parts. I like the round looks achieved with them. The bright lime tentacles don't stand out, but they are very vibrant against the metal tones..
Nevertheless, this work caught my eye! Wonderful use of pieces, and it immediately gets 10 points for originality

Limey goodness, yay!
